Building Trust & Respect
Employees will quit because of their Manager and not necessarily the company.
The three major reasons are: (There are others but these make up at least 95%)
• The employee does not feel trusted
• The employee does not feel respected or valued
• The employee feels that they are not recognized for their contributions
The fix is very simple. (Ask instead of tell)
Asking for an employee’s input, regardless of whether you will act upon it or not, tells the employee four things about your attitude:
I want your input
I value your perspective
I will listen to what you have to say
I want you involved
